(Train Ride to Rome)

All trips lead to an English translation below ..

The famous saying is, “all roads lead to Rome”, today PJG and I took a train to Rome 😂

In the middle of the night, Verona began to come alive with thunder and lightning all through the night. It was still pouring down in the morning. Fortunately, the owner of the AirBnB said he would help call us a taxi. This particular AirBnB was probably the best place to stay so far. Because we really got a lot of help from the owners. Whenever PJG would send an email they would respond basically within 10 minutes, and Francisco would come over to provide the information. Although our communication needed to be translated through google, the communication was always smooth and enjoyable.

The train took 3 hours and 8 minutes from Verona to Rome. It was very convenient. After arriving in Rome, we took bus 64 which let us off only 5 minutes from the apartment. This bus was really crowded, reminding me of my experience of crowded busses when I was working in Beijing. Fortunately, there was AC on the bus. The owner of this home was also a humorous Italian, but he claims to be a Roman, giving us not only a brief introduction to the apartment, but also a show of his proud Roman history. Our area is called Trastevere, the 13th district of Rome, very close to the Vatican. It’s a bit like an small Italian town with narrow cobblestone roads and century-old buildings on both sides, and seem to be less touristy that other parts of Rome.

After we were settled in the apartment, we went to the center of the area to find a place for dinner, then returned to the apartment for the night.

When we were looking for dinner near the hotel, we came across this sculpture. In fact, I had seen a similar sculpture on the way to the airBnb I think there are many in Rome. I have never seen a sculpture dedicated to such a vulnerable group.
