开车巴黎周边教堂游 – Driving Through Church Towns

PJG租了一辆车，我俩要去看巴黎周边郊外的几个教堂，还可以看一下法国郊外的景色和小镇。PJG的父亲在他1949年的旅行中，也是和朋友们开了一辆车去了更多的教堂，当年他们在巴黎周边开车转了两天，我俩今天只去转一天，所以只能去他们去过的其中的几个教堂。在巴黎开车似乎比英国容易些，至少是在和美国一样的同一边开车。 大家也都遵守同一个驾驶规则，右边车道开车，左边车道超车。唯一一个难点是带文字的交通路牌看不懂，哈哈 😅  一些国际通用的标示的路牌没有问题，幸亏有google地图啊！

We rented a car and we went to see several churches in the outskirts of Paris. We also had marvelous views of the scenery and the small towns in the north of Paris. In 1949, PJG’s father also drove a car with his friends to these churches on his trip. While they took two days for their drive, we only had one day, so we could only go to about five churches. Driving in Paris seems easier than in the United Kingdom, at least they drive on the same side as in US. Everyone also follows the same driving rules as in the UK: the right lane is for normal driving and you pass using the left lane. The only difficulty is that there are many traffic signs we couldn’t read, although there was no problem with most of the internationally-recognized road signs – Also many thanks to Google Maps! 🙂 Our biggest problem was driving in the city of Paris – I think there will be a post of this later. (it was more similar to driving in China!!!)

我俩去了四个教堂和一个城堡，他父亲当年都只是拍了一些教堂的黑白照片，没有任何说明，可以是任何地方的任何教堂，PJG花了很长时间研究出来它们是哪些教堂，今天证实了并且亲自看到了那些教堂。

We went to four churches and a castle. His father had only taken black and white photographs of some churches that year and many were of very poor quality since his camera had broken. Using the old pictures, PJG spent a long time studying the location of churches. Today we were finally able to visit these churches in person!

第一个教堂是在苏瓦松的The Abbey of St. Jean des Vignes （没找到翻译的中文名字），这个教堂建于1076年。PJG手中拿的是他父亲当年拍的黑白照片。- The first church was The Abbey of St. Jean des Vignes in Soissons. The church was built in 1076. We took along the black and white photo taken by his father for reference.
第二个教堂：拉昂教堂，一个比较早起的哥特式建筑典型 – The second church was the Laon Cathedral, a typical example of early Gothic style.

这是第三个停留的地方，在佩罗讷的一座城堡，建于9世纪末，用来取代一个被烧毁的皇家宫殿。 – This is the third place, Peronne Castle,  which was built in the late 9th century

第三个去的教堂：亚眠主教座堂 ，典型的哥特式建筑，始建于1152年，曾经在两次世界大战中都被轰炸，PJG父亲70年前去的时候，周边还没有那些我们今天看到的建筑。- The third church was Amiens Cathedral, a typical Gothic building, built in 1152 but was bombed in both world wars. When PJG’s father went there 70 years ago, none of the houses were around.

It was a long day with a lot of driving but well worth seeing all these incredible Cathedrals. And the added bonus of visiting the same places James’ father was in 1949!

    这种追寻父辈足迹的旅游更有意思！👍
