今天是开车在伦敦周边速游 (因为停留的时间比较短暂，所以叫她速游 😅 )的第三天，第一个停留的地方是皮尔顿，也是PJG大姨 – Sylvia 的故居所在。这是一个非常小的村庄，有很多房子也都有一，二百年的历史了。PJG来过这里很多次了，这次是专门带我来的。我没有见过他的大姨，不过见过很多她的绘画作品，她去世后，有很多她的画都在 PJG这里，我们曾在山景城的家里挂了满墙。所以这次很高兴能够来到她的故居看看。

Today we left Cornwall and are driving towards the Cotswolds where we will stay at a hotel in Swindon, that is our only real hotel on the trip.  On our third day in England, the first place we stopped on our way to Bath was Pilton, which was also PJG’s Aunt Sylvia’s former home. This is a very small village.

There are many houses with more than 200 years of history here. PJG has been here many times, this time was just for me. I never met his aunt, she passed away in 2010, but I have seen a lot of her paintings. We have many of her paintings and had them hung in our Mountain View place. So it was a pleasure to be able to visit where she lived.

Aunt Sylvia以前曾是一位护士，在业余时间做了很多绘画创作，她的很多水彩画都很雅致的风格，我现在头脑中浮现的其中她的是一幅画： 一个静置在小圆桌子上的花瓶，花瓶里插着鲜花，桌子上有白色的带有镂空花纹的桌布，阳光透过窗户洒到花瓶上，淡淡的影子映射到白色的桌布上。 到了这里才能感受到这个小村庄当年应该给了她很多灵感。她在这个小村庄住了20多年，下面照片里左边那扇门就是她的故居。

Aunt Sylvia used to be a nurse, and did a lot of painting in her spare time, many of her watercolor paintings are in elegant style, and I now have a picture of her paintings in my mind: a vase on a small round table with flowers in it and a white tablecloth on the table. The sun shines through the window onto the vase, and the faint shadow maps to the white tablecloth. It is here that I feel this small village would have given her a lot of inspiration. She lived in this small village for more than 20 years – the left door in the photo below was her home.

大名鼎鼎的罗马浴场坐落在英国的城市巴斯里，是一处保存比较完好的历史名胜。浴场已经有2000多年的历史，是古罗马大众洗浴的地方。古罗马当时统治英格兰，当罗马人行军至此地，发现了这里的一个温泉，便在这里修建了此浴池。浴池被深埋在地下一千多年无人知晓，直到18世纪维多利亚时期，人们再次发现了那个温泉，这座浴池在接下来的30多年的挖掘后才得以重见天日。浴场里的温泉水发源于3000多米深的地下，水温常年保持在46℃，2000多年以后的今天还是一直源源不断，喷涌不息。古罗马似乎已经研发出了一套非常完善的浴场建设体系，温水浴室，热水蒸汽浴室，泳池，供水和供热系统都已经体系话了。浴场不仅是洗浴的地方，也是古罗马人希望能够泉疗祛病的地方，浴场里的温泉水含有非常多种矿物质。这个浴场并不是针对富有人群的，而是面向大众的，因为古罗马人已经意识到，只有富有的人保持卫生而服侍她们的佣人们非常不卫生不健康，对她们自己的健康也是没有益处的，所以这种浴场的进场票价非常低，或是根本就不收钱。关于浴场的历史和故事有太多，而且有很多至今未解的迷，我就不在这里做更多的记录了。

The famous Roman baths are located in the British city of Bath, and is a well-preserved historical site. Bath has a history of more than 2000 years, and is an ancient Roman public bathing place. Ancient Rome ruled England, and when the Romans marched here and found a hot spring here, they built this amazing structure around it. The ancient baths were buried deep in the ground for more than 1000 years, and until the Victorian period of 18th century, the hot springs were rediscovered, and the baths were discovered after more than 30 years of excavation. The hot springs come from more than 3,000 meters deep underground, the water temperature remained year-round at 46 ℃, and more than 2000 years later is still continuously, flowing. Ancient Rome seemed to have developed a very perfect bathing-building system, with warm baths, hot steam baths, swimming pools, water supply and heating systems already in the system. Bath is not only a place to bathe, but also the ancient Romans hope to be able to cure diseases of the place, bathing in the hot spring water contains a very many minerals. This bathing is not just for the rich people, but for the general public, because the ancient Romans realized that not only the rich people needed to maintain health because if their servants were very unsanitary and unhealthy, it would not be good for their own health! So this kind of bathing was made available to all!

这个历史古迹非常特别，因为很多展出的展品都是货真价实的来自2000多年前的真品。游客可以触摸，可以真正的体验身临其境的感觉。走在主浴场的两侧的原版千年多前就存在石头铺设的走道上，看着古时起就源源不断流入的温泉水，似乎可以看到罗马人坐在浴池里享受着大自然和人类智慧的共同结晶。

There is so much history and stories about the Baths, and there are still a lot of mysteries that have not been solved so far – But I am not here to give you a history lesson! This historic site is very special because most of the exhibits are authentic from more than 2000 years ago. Visitors can touch and can truly immerse themselves into the experience.

Walking by the main bath on the thousand-year old stone paved paths, looking at the stream from the sacred spring flowing into the pool, it feels like I could see the Romans sitting in the large tub enjoying the creation of nature and of human wisdom.

感谢PJG特意带我来这里，他其实已经来过了，他说我肯定会喜欢这里。是的，虽然只有短短的几个小时，但是我能够身临其境地感受罗马浴场那丰厚的历史，古罗马人的建筑工程智慧和技术并真真切切地触摸到，真的是无以言表的很特别的经历。

Thanks to PJG for bringing me here, he had been here before and said I would love it. Yes, he was right!  I can personally experience the rich history of the Roman baths, the ancient Roman building engineering prowess and technology and really touch a piece of history – all of this understates the very special experience at the Roman Baths.
