Moving Day! – 搬家日!

Well our first part of our Penang trip has come to an end. Today we moved from our apartment in Tanjung Tokong, at the Straits Quay Suites to a place nearer to George Town called Gurney Ville. I was surprised at how much extra stuff we had accumulated in the first five weeks (mostly food and kitchen stuff). Also, it was a work day for PJM so we decided to make the move in a few steps, leaving her computer set up for her work.

好吧,我们槟城之行的第一部分已经结束了。今天,我们从丹绒道光的海峡码头套房公寓搬到了更靠近乔治城的一个名为 Gurney Ville 的地方。令我惊讶的是,在最初的五个星期里,我们积累了多少额外的东西(主要是食物和厨房用品)。此外,今天是 PJM 的工作日,所以我们决定分几步进行搬家,让她今天正常工作。

While the location of the new place is a definite improvement in terms of shopping and restaurants, I described the move as like going from staying at the Hyatt to a Howard Johnsons. Well, not really that bad, but close 🙂 From the grand entrance at Straits Quay, to the modern new building with pools and restaurants, it was really a very nice place to stay. The drawback was that it was in a more rural area with not a lot of restaurants, outside of the ones at the pricey ones in the “resort”. Our new location is much closer to the action and we have many places to eat within easy walking distance.

虽然新地方的位置在购物和餐馆方面有明显改善,但我把这次搬家形容为从住在五星酒店到住在便利连锁旅馆。嗯,其实没有那么糟糕,但也差不多:-) 从海峡码头的宏伟入口,到现代化的新建筑,配有游泳池和餐馆,那真是一个非常好的住宿地点。缺点是它位于一个更加偏远的地区,除了”度假村”式昂贵的餐馆外,没有太多的餐馆。我们的新位置更便利,在步行距离内有许多吃饭的地方。

In the morning I packed up all my clothes and hastily filled another suitcase with various things and took it over to the new place to check in and get set up. We had purposely overlapped our stays so we had a full day before we needed to be out. I put away the things and returned with two empty suitcases back to Straits Quay. After lunch I packed up ZY’s computer setup and filled another suitcase with various things and took them, along with ZY’s desk chair, back to the new apartment. The new place has three bedrooms so I got her computer set up in her new office. Then ZY and her sister, who is visiting, packed up the fridge and their suitcases and joined me in the new place. Three trips, but quite easy.

早上,我收拾好所有衣服,匆忙地在行李箱里装满各种东西,然后带着它前往新住处，办理入住手续并安顿下来。我们在海峡码头公寓多预定了一天,所以我们有一整天的时间进行搬家。我把东西放好,拿着两个空行李箱回到海峡码头。午饭后,我收拾了 ZY 的电脑设备,在另一个行李箱里装满各种东西,连同 ZY 的书桌椅一起,带回新公寓。新住处有三间卧室,所以我在她的新办公室里安置好她的电脑。然后 ZY 和她来访的姐姐最后收拾好冰箱和行李箱来到新住处。搬家一共走了三趟,但很轻松。

So we are now fully moved into our new place, Gurney Ville located in the Pilau Tikus area which I’ll post about later after we’ve been here awhile.

所以我们现在已经完全搬进了新住处 Gurney Ville。等我们在这里住一段时间后,我会再写一些关于这里的情况。
