"The capital of Malta is inextricably linked to the history of the military and charitable Order of St John of Jerusalem. It was ruled successively by the Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and the Order of the Knights of St John. Valletta’s 320 monuments, all within an area of 55 ha, make it one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world."
In the morning, we bought a transportation card at the bus station near the hotel. The 15 euros card gives you 12 trips saving 3 euros, more importantly, it is much easier to board the bus using the card. It takes about 30 minutes to reach Valletta from St Julian. Walking into the walled city capital of only 0.60 sq km from the city gate of Valletta, I was immediately attracted by the unique buildings. Walking through the alleys, I was completely lost in the baroque style, and the limestone light khaki colored buildings. The buildings are a dense clusters of rows of unique balconies, majestic churches, and small shops with interesting designs. Every time I turned my head I was afraid of missing some picturesque scenery.

After walking under the hot sun, dodging from shade to shade for more than four hours, we were finally repelled by the melting sun. We took the ferry across the bay to Sliema, which is one of the best places to view the skyline of Valletta. The ferry ticket costs 1.5 euros, and takes about 7 minutes from Valletta to Sliema. After we got to Sliema and took a few photos, we were too tired to do much else, so we took the bus back to the hotel to rest.
After we arrived back at the hotel we discovered that part of the Special Olympics was being held in Malta and there were hundreds of the various groups staying at the hotel along with news crews and various dignitaries.
I love the old buildings, your photos show a wonderful city. Maybe a place for me and Bob to visit. The crowds without masks are too much in some places.
How did you like your rabbit dish?
And what was the temperature yesterday in Valletta?
我非常喜欢这些照片!看不够似的。
马耳他首都每一张画面都是风景。古老又很独特、精美的建筑。
这样的地方适合慢慢看、多住几天!
