Sunday, May 8, 2022. Day 20 of our trip, today officially marks the first half of the trip, with 20 more days to go!
Today was a day to relax, mostly. We went to a nearby seafood market at noon, hoping to buy Pipi shrimp and then go home and cook it myself. But I didn’t expect the market to be closed on Sunday! I totally forgot that many shops here are closed on Sundays. So we bought a small box of strawberries, a few bananas, and a cantaloupe from a fruit stall selling vegetables and fruits near the market and then picked up some sandwiches for lunch. The stall owner gave me two kiwis for free and also tried to give us free plums which we declined! Seems Greek people everywhere are very generous! In the afternoon, we did our laundry in the basement of the B&B. While waiting for the laundry PJG rested at the B&B and I went out for a walk by myself. What is the difference between Greece in May and Greece in November? My current answer is that there are a lot more people / visitors out and about! It got really crowded in the busy areas.
In the evening, we were sitting in a bar doing our favorite things, drinking pints and watching the crowds. I asked PJG where in the US can I find a place with an atmosphere like here in Athens, and the picture below was his answer, haha!
Interesting that the B&B left a portion of their wall uncovered. I think you chose well in your B&B – lovely view and close to shops. Hopefully your pork gyro was tastier than the cheaper one but you’ll never know, so you probably made the right choice. Also very interesting wall murals everywhere. Perhaps you should buy an old suitcase at the antique market for all the souvenirs you could purchase!
You’re in Greece but the wall mural has words in English. We’re there a lot of things in English there?
I would say, except for restaurants/bars, there are not lots of things in English.
But T-shirts and graffiti are often in English
We’re is supposed to be were on Bob’s comment.
