It’s finally sunny today. We didn’t leave until after 11 when we headed up to the roof of our hotel to take a look around. From there we could see the world-famous Sagrada Familia in the distance. Unfortunately, given our shortened visit, we don’t plan to go there this time, we’ll wait until we come back in May. Later we strolled around the Gothic Quarter.

Going south along Las Ramblas takes you to the beach on the Mediterranean Sea. There are many boats moored on the blue water, and there are many super large yachts worth millions. I don’t know which rich people own these ships, but I can imagine some are oligarchs.

Many children are having fun playing here. Passers-by will give him some change.沿着海边走看到的哥伦布纪念碑, 就建在了哥伦布第一次航行到达美洲后返回西班牙的这个地点 The Columbus Monument, seen along the seaside, was built at the site where Columbus returned to Spain after his first voyage to America.纪念碑旁边的几座雄狮雕塑的一樽 Several lion sculptures surround the monument又一樽雄狮 Another lion sculpture海滩上晒太阳的人们，这里有小商贩在海滩上卖鸡尾酒的 People sunbathing on the beach with vendors selling cocktails.听着地中海海浪，吃着美食 People eating delicious food while listening to the Mediterranean waves 海滩边上有很多饭店和很窄很独特的居民楼. There are many restaurants and very narrow and unique residential buildings lining the beach“受伤的星”雕塑，当地仍又把它叫做“方块”，是一个来自德国的艺术家在1992年准备奥运会时创作的 “The Wounded Star” – Locals refer to it as “The Cubes” built in preparation for the 1992 Olympics 很多卖这种五颜六色的大方巾的小商贩，很多都是印度人 Many vendors selling these large colorful beach blankets, many of them are Indians某人在看海浪 Someone watching the waves中午一点多了，选择了一家海边的饭店吃午餐 After one o’clock, we chose a seaside restaurant for lunch. 点了三个Tapas，西红柿大蒜面包片，据说是这里有名的一个tapas，但是除了咸没有比的味道，差评；菠萝大虾意面沙拉，很怪的味道，也是差评；猪肉炸饺，应该是三道菜里最好的，但是味道也是一般；We ordered three tapas. One was the tomato and garlic bread, said to be a famous tapas here, but it has no taste other than salt. The pineapple shrimp pasta salad had an odd aftertaste; the pulled pork dumpling was the best of the three, but was also average.
After lunch, we walked around the El Born area. The El Born district is said to be a very trendy neighborhood. Before coming to Barcelona, I saw many You-tubers saying that it has lots of bars, cafes and restaurants and also some of the oldest buildings in the city.
很特别的小巷 very special alley摩雷雷斯之墓广场 Plaça de Fosser de les Moreres – 纪念西班牙内战中光荣牺牲烈士的纪念碑 Monument to those who died in the Spanish Civil War.为了纪念这些光荣烈士，金属电弧顶端的圣火全年不息。An eternal flame at the top of the metal arc commemorates the soldiers (Can’t see it well)摩雷雷斯之墓广场上的居民楼和楼下的饭店 Residential buildings on the Moreres Square and a restaurant below.加泰罗尼亚哥特式建筑风格的海洋圣母圣殿，建于1329年至1383年。有趣的是就在这座古建筑前，游客们可以坐在旁边饭店提供的位子上享受美食和美景，当时还有一个街头艺人的乐队在表演。Basilica of Our Lady of the Seas in Catalan Gothic style, built between 1329 and 1383. Interestingly, just in front of this ancient building, tourists can sit in the seats provided by the restaurant and enjoy food and the view. Also there was a band of street performers playing.自由之吻 The Kiss of Freedom， 是由6000张照片组成的马赛克艺术品，创作组成于2014年. A mosaic of 6,000 photos, created in 2014.
In the afternoon, We finally bought a phone card for 15 euros that has 50GB of data which can be used for 28 days all over Europe. The guy who sold us the phone card didn’t speak English very well. Google translation and PJG’s limited Spanish came in handy. We went to the El Born area for dinner. We originally had found a seafood restaurant that didn’t open until 8 pm. The restaurant was inside a nondescript building with no sign in front. After we finally found the place, they were just opening and no one was there! But when we asked for a table, they said they were fully booked 🙁
小巷里的一家饭店，吃点儿Tapas, 饭店的服务员是中国人，他来这里已经20多年了 So we ended up at this restaurant in an alley, eating some Tapas as an appetizer. The waiter at the restaurant was Chinese, he has been here for more than 20 years.这个著名的西班牙火腿非常好吃 This famous Jamon Iberico (Spanish ham) is very delicious左边的是西红柿面包片，比中午吃到的那个好吃多了 The one on the left is the same tomato bread we had at lunch. This one was much better than that one.夕阳下的建筑 A building at sunset随便找了一个有空位的饭店 We found a restaurant with free tables吞拿鱼西红柿沙拉，这个特别好吃 The Tuna belly and tomato salad was especially delicious烤小鱿鱼，很新鲜 Grilled baby squid, very fresh and delicious.烤猪排, 没有什么味道 Grilled pork chops, bland, no taste吃饭的时候，来了一个街头艺人表演 While eating, there was a street performer next to us.
Tomorrow we fly to Nice, France, which marks the end of our first trip to Barcelona. We will return here again at the end of the trip, and stay for four days and plan to visit the famous Gaudí buildings in Barcelona at that time.
