下雨的一天 – A Rainy Day

早上醒来，外面还在下雨。天气预报说，这场雨会下一整天。我一边喝茶，一边看工作邮箱里堆积的三十多封邮件，不得不回复了其中三封。还是要出门看卡，风大、气温低、雨还在断断续续地下。我们决定先轻松一点，坐一圈免费的有轨电车。

It was still raining outside when we woke up this morning and the forecast said it would rain all day. I sipped my tea while glancing through over thirty emails in my work inbox and ended up replying to three of them. I am supposed to be on vacation!

去墨尔本 Arriving in Melbourne

今天启程前往墨尔本。
早上七点半，我们开车去机场，还车的过程一波三折，绕了几圈才找到正确的地点。顺利交车时，因为没加满油，被多收了28澳元。

Today we set off for Melbourne.
At 7:30 in the morning, we drove to the airport, but returning the car turned out to be a bit of an ordeal — we circled several times before finding the right place and decided not to bother finding a gas station. When we finally handed it over, we were charged an extra 28 AUD for not refueling the tank 😂

今天是轻松的一天。早上边补写前两天的游记，边把这几天的衣服洗了。阳光正好，窗外安静。然后坐Uber去了悉尼最有名的邦迪海滩，这里是澳大利亚最具代表性的海滩之一，以金色沙滩、碧蓝海水和自由开放的氛围闻名。今天天气极好，蓝天碧海，沙滩细腻，很多人在海滩上晒着太阳。

Today was an easy, relaxing day. In the morning, I caught up on writing the travel blog from the past two days while we did the laundry. The sun was shining, and it was quiet outside.

早上开车出发，第一站是羽谷野生动物园，距离我们的民宿大约四十多分钟。路上又要经过悉尼的复杂而漫长的地下隧道，完全没有手机信号，开起来就像“盲驾”一样。虽然过程有点挑战，但PJG还是安全地把我们开到了目的地。

澳大利亚的动物们 Australian Animals

上午去了悉尼塔龙加动物园。动物园坐落在悉尼港北岸的莫斯曼（Mosman）山坡上，视野极佳——从环形码头（Circular Quay）坐上渡轮，不到二十分钟便能抵达。那一段航程本身就像是一场小小的序曲，海风轻拂，天光与浪花交错，远处的歌剧院和海港大桥渐渐退到背景里，而动物园藏在一片郁郁葱葱的绿意之中。

In the morning, we visited Sydney’s Taronga Zoo. The zoo sits on the hillside of Mosman, on the north shore of Sydney Harbour, offering a magnificent view. From Circular Quay, it takes less than twenty minutes by ferry to get there. The short voyage itself feels like a prelude — sea breeze brushing by, sunlight dancing on the waves, the Opera House and Harbour Bridge gradually receding into the background, while the zoo nestles amid lush greenery.

离民宿5分钟的轻轨站 – The light rail station is 5 minutes from the Airbnb.

早上从民宿出发坐了几站轻轨，去了悉尼海港大桥。春夏衔接的天气还有些凉爽，太阳还躲在云层后面，步行走过大桥大概三十分钟，桥上人不多，偶尔有跑步的、骑车的，也有提着咖啡杯散步的当地人，看起来都很惬意。

In the morning, we left our Airbnb and took the light rail a few stops to the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The weather, at the turn of spring and summer, was still a bit cool, and the sun hid behind the clouds. It took about half hour to walk across the bridge. There weren’t many people—just a few joggers, cyclists, and locals strolling with coffee cups in hand, all looking quite content.

我们下午四点左右从Alex家出发，五点半抵达洛杉矶国际机场。到达后我们去了贵宾休息室，享用了免费的饮料、小吃、红酒和牛排晚餐, 度假正式开始啦！大约晚上九点四十分登机。这是我们第一次乘坐空中客车A380——一架巨大的飞机。我们买的是豪华经济舱座位，座位在飞机的上层。可惜的是机舱内似乎不能随意走动，所以并没有感觉的飞机竟然有两层。

We departed from Alex’s place around 4 p.m. in Los Angeles and arrived at LAX around 5:30 p.m. We headed to the lounge, where we enjoyed complimentary drinks, snacks, wine, and a steak dinner.

马萨特兰的食物 Food in Mazatlan

美食一直是旅行中最吸引我们的部分之一，期待那些意想不到的味道能带来舌尖的惊喜，让大脑因美食释放出多巴胺，带来纯粹的幸福感。可惜，马萨特兰的食物让我们颇为失望。用三个词来总结：单调、干、无味。

Food has always been one of the biggest draws of travel for us — the hope that unexpected flavors will delight the palate, trigger a dopamine rush, and bring a pure sense of joy. Unfortunately, the food in Mazatlán left us rather disappointed. In three words: monotonous, dry, and bland.

这是宁静且平淡无奇的一周，也是我们在马萨特兰的最后一周。第一次在旅途中，竟感到如此开心地想要回家。不知为何，许多军舰鸟这周突然选择在我们民宿大楼上空翱翔，再次带回了清晨观鸟的乐趣。周五下午我选择休息，中午11点开完会，我们便出发去了历史老城区一家颇受欢迎的餐厅 Totem 吃了顿午饭，也许是这次旅程中最让我们满意的一餐。

This was a calm and uneventful week — our final one in Mazatlán. For the first time during our travels, we actually felt genuinely happy about the idea of going home. For some reason, many frigatebirds suddenly chose to circle above our apartment building this week, bringing back the joy of early-morning birdwatching.

忽然一天早上醒来，几乎所有的鸟儿都消失了，这一周也没有再回来；清晨坐在阳台上，边喝茶边看它们俯冲入海、捕鱼翻腾的乐趣，也仿佛随它们一同远去；空气中少了鸣叫，海面上少了掠影；最合理的解释，也许是它们已经踏上迁徙之路，飞往另一片遥远的大海，去追随季节的召唤。剩下了一些留守的鹈鹕和军舰鸟，依旧在风中缓缓盘旋，一波波拍岸的浪花，和带着咸意的海风，在无声中陪伴着清晨的空旷。

One morning, we woke up to find that almost all the birds had vanished. They didn’t return the entire week. The joy of sipping tea on the balcony each morning while watching them dive into the sea and stir up splashes in search of fish seemed to have disappeared along with them.

工作日的节奏已经步入正轨，没有特别的波澜。和同事开视频会议时，我分享了眼前的海景，大家纷纷好奇：在这样的环境下，我是怎么还能专心工作的？我笑着回答：“我是一个在中国出生长大、受过良好纪律训练的乖乖听话的中国人，哈哈！”

这是平静而有节奏的工作周。每天早上在海浪声中醒来，一睁眼便是浩瀚无垠的大海，鹈鹕，军舰鸟和海鸥在空中翱翔，不时俯冲入水，捕捉鱼儿。坐在宽敞的阳台上，喝完一杯热茶，吃完早饭后，便开始一天的工作。如此壮阔的海景在眼前展开，连原本枯燥的工作也仿佛变得轻松起来。PJG 每天都会独自外出徒步几个小时，探索这座海滨小城。

It was a calm and rhythmic work week. Each morning began with the sound of waves, waking to the vast expanse of the ocean, with pelicans, frigates and seagulls soaring overhead, occasionally diving into the water to catch fish. Sitting on the spacious balcony, after finishing a cup of hot tea and breakfast, the day’s work begins.

昨夜，海浪声与来往车辆震耳欲聋的音乐交织，一阵阵袭来，断断续续地持续到凌晨三四点。我最终戴上苹果的降噪耳机，才勉强入睡。清晨六点多，被海浪声唤醒，窗外的海鸟在海面上翱翔、盘旋，嬉戏于风浪之间。我俩泡上一杯咖啡和一杯茶，坐在阳台上，静静欣赏海滨大道的晨光与海天交融的景色。

Last night, the loud crashing of waves mixed with deafening music from passing cars intermittently persisted until around three or four in the morning. Eventually, I managed to fall asleep only after putting on my Apple noise-canceling headphones.

Saturday, March 15, 2025 — Departing for Mazatlán

从马来西亚归来后，我们便萌生了新的念头，渴望在另一座城市开启第二次远程工作的旅程。尤其是在去年10月，我欣赏的那位经理离开了公司，这让我毫无顾忌，更加坚定了今年必须实现这个目标的决心。衡量时差因素后，我们将目光投向了墨西哥。在翻阅整个墨西哥的地图时，在Airbnb的海量房源中，相中了马萨特兰的一间面朝大海的民宿。预订落定，与另一位经理沟通后，一切顺利推进。就这样，我们在马萨特兰的一个月远程办公计划，悄然成真。

After returning from our trip to Malaysia, we really wanted to do another remote-working journey. Especially since last October, when the manager I liked left the company, I felt less attached, further strengthening my determination to achieve this goal within the year.

今天是我们这次旅行的最后一天，凌晨2点的飞机，因此在利马还有整整一天的时间。PJG 的腹泻情况好转了许多，看来抗生素起效很快。不过，为了恢复体力，他继续在民宿休息，我上午打 Uber 去了圣弗朗西斯科修道院博物馆。利马周六的交通依然拥堵，本来不到二十分钟的车程，我的Uber花了40 分钟才抵达目的地。博物馆的门票是 20 秘鲁新索尔，包括导游讲解，其实是游客不允许自行参观，必须跟随导游讲解完成游览。整个参观过程禁止拍照，所以没有留下任何照片。为了简单展示一下这个博物馆的氛围，我从网上下载了几张照片。

Today is the last day of our trip, with a flight at 2 a.m., so we still have a full day in Lima. PJG has improved significantly, and it seems the antibiotics are working quickly. However, to regain strength, he continues to rest at the Airbnb while I explore the city.

是的，某人的“旅行者腹泻”今天更加严重了，加上昨晚还有些低烧，只能遗憾地留在床上休息。我去了超市，买了一些香蕉、电解质水和卫生纸，然后独自打了辆 Uber 前往华卡普克拉纳遗址。这是一座位于城市中心的古老金字塔，由古代原住民文明建造而成，距离民宿车程不到 10 分钟。遗址的门票价格为 15 秘鲁新索尔，包括一个小时的导游讲解。尽管游览时间短暂，但站在这座拥有千年历史的金字塔前，聆听导游的讲解，我还是学到了不少关于利马历史的知识。

Yes, the Peruvian two-step worsened today, coupled with a slight fever last night, so he had to stay in bed to rest. I went to the supermarket and bought some bananas, electrolyte water, and loads of toilet paper, then took an Uber alone to the Huaca Pucllana site. This ancient pyramid, built by indigenous civilizations, is located in the heart of the city and about a 10-minute Uber from our apartment.

怎么说呢，这次的南美洲利马之旅，又一次不出意外地经历了意外——PJG 昨晚开始肚子不舒服，今天早上开始泻肚子。还记得上次在布宜诺斯艾利斯那场泻肚子之经历吧？不过，早上的他还没觉得严重，能够完成今天的行程。我们上午 11 点半的大巴返回利马，出发前在绿洲的小湖边散步了一圈。

Well, this South American trip to Lima has once again, somewhat predictably, been met with an unpleasant hiccup – PJG started feeling unwell last night, and by this morning, he was dealing with the dreaded South American diarrhea. Recall that similar experience in Buenos Aires? Fortunately, it didn’t seem too serious in the morning, and he was still able to manage today’s itinerary. After breakfast, we strolled around the small lake at the oasis killing time before our 11:30 am bus back to Lima.

早上7点多，我们乘坐Uber前往Atocongo汽车站，开始今天的注定独特的旅程。搭上Cruz del Sur的大巴，目标是距离利马四个多小时车程的沙漠绿洲——Huacachina Oasis。在车站时，幸运地遇到了一位会说英语的女士，巧合的是她与我们同车同行，省去了和车站工作人员语言沟通的困扰。大巴的舒适度令人满意，椅背可以放倒，座椅之间还配有可拉起的帘子，会为陌生人之间增添一份私密。窗外的风景多是大片的荒芜，感觉沙尘在空气中飘荡，有时会看到很多看似被遗弃的砖瓦房，有些实际上仍有人居住，或许是尚未完工的，偶尔会看到绿色的植物，或是葡萄园。时间在这漫无边际的死气沉沉景色中悄然流逝，四个多小时的旅程仿佛不过弹指一瞬，转眼我们已抵达伊卡市。

Around 7 a.m., we took an Uber to the Atocongo bus station to begin today’s unique journey. We boarded a Cruz del Sur bus bound for Huacachina Oasis, a desert oasis located more than four hours from Lima. At the station, we were fortunate to meet a Peruvian woman who spoke some english and coincidentally shared the same bus with us, sparing us the challenge of communicating with the station staff. The bus ride was quite comfortable, with reclining seats and curtains between them for added privacy between strangers.

上午，我们从民宿出发，沿着悬崖边的海景路徒步，找到了通往悬崖下方海滩的阶梯，海边是一个冲浪者们的聚集地。一路走着，步伐渐渐远离了回程的阶梯。查看谷歌地图，地图显示可以沿着另外一条公路走上悬崖，绕回去，我们便相信了导航，走上了过街天桥。

In the morning, we left the apartment and walked along the scenic coastal road by the cliff, finding stairs that led down to the beach below, a gathering spot for surfers. As we walked, we gradually moved away from the stairs for the return journey. Checking Google Maps, it showed that we could follow another road up the cliff and loop back, so we trusted the navigation and proceeded across the pedestrian overpass.

Monday, December 2, 2024: The Fourth Day of Our Lima Journey

今天去了利马的巴兰科区，这里是靠近我们民宿所在的米拉弗洛雷斯区的一片滨海城区，以浓厚的文艺气息而闻名。在决定民宿位置时，我们曾犹豫是否要选择住在巴兰科区，最终还是选择了米拉弗洛雷斯。乘坐Uber大约十几分钟就抵达了巴兰科区。这里到处可见色彩斑斓的大型墙绘，为这里增添了许多艺术与活力。

Today, we visited Barranco, a coastal district not far from our Airbnb in Miraflores. Known for its vibrant artistic vibe, Barranco exudes a bohemian charm.
