Today, we went to Cannes for a brief visit taking a very convenient direct train. The journey took about 45 minutes and costs 13 euros. Cannes is an important conference and exhibition center in France, especially famous for the Cannes Film Festival, so of course Cannes is very familiar to Chinese people.
However, after visiting, I feel that Cannes is not much different from other French towns. There are the typical alleys in the old town, bays, churches, museums and endless restaurants, bars, shops, etc. The only thing that makes Cannes world famous is the Cannes film festival.
去戛纳的火车 On the train to Cannes戛纳火车站 The Cannes train station著名的昂蒂布大街，这里是各类品牌商品集合地，到处是令人眼花缭乱的橱窗. The famous Rue D’Antibes, where all kinds of famous brand products are sold and is full of dazzling window displays.很多饭店在昂莱布大街两旁. A lovely public drinking non-working fountain.苏克老城区里的小巷. An alley in the old town of Le Suquet, a small district in Cannes小巷里的一家卖肉店，墙上挂着野猪和鹿头，应该是主人曾经的猎物. We passed by this butcher shop in an alley. There’s a wild boar and a deer head hanging on the wall. Did the owner shoot these?戛纳电影节影节宫对面的一个酒店门前的两个雕塑. Two interesting sculptures in front of a ritzy hotel opposite the Palais des Festivals这个就是那个大名鼎鼎的戛纳电影节影节宫，很多人在那个红毯上拍照片留念. Cannes Film Festival Palais des Festivals, many people took pictures on the red carpet for fun。应该没有很多小熊上过红毯吧. The bear hopes to win an Oscar next!影节宫旁边的一个赌场 A casino nearby the Palais des Festivals苏克老城区. Le Suquet Old Town戛纳湾庭了很多各式游船，游艇和游轮. Cannes Bay has many kinds of yachts and sail boats, some very fancy!这个豪华的邮轮里还有一个小型的游艇. This one also has a little yacht inside the bigger yacht很多明星留下的手印，和好莱坞的星光大道类似. Handprints left by many stars, similar to Hollywood’s Walk of Fame一个有些浪漫的饭店. A romantic restaurant苏克老城区里的一个市场. 吃完午饭，爬山去了城堡广场，这里可以俯瞰戛纳湾和苏克老城区，登高望远永远有特别美的景色。
After lunch, we climbed our third mountain and went up to the Place de la Castre which overlooks Cannes Bay and Le Suquet. Another particularly beautiful view from the top.
比较容易的爬山路径 Ok, not such a difficult climbing trail…但是我俩选择了这个路径，还好这个小山不高. But PJG chose this path instead, fortunately this hill is not very high.山上城堡广场的戛纳牌子 The Cannes sign on top of the Place de la Castre on the hill埃斯佩兰斯圣母堂，一座天主教教堂，供奉圣母玛利亚. Eglise Notre-Dame d’Esperance, a Catholic church dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
We took the train back to Nice in the afternoon, missing the familiarity of Nice. We strolled around the Old Town and sought out a quiet place for dinner.
坐火车回到尼斯后，我俩在老城区又逛了一圈，在这里找了一个饭店吃在尼斯最后的一个晚餐。
前菜普罗旺斯杂烩，是法国的本土菜，有点儿像炖菜，只不过调料的味道不一样，有西葫芦，茄子，青椒，西红柿和橄榄 Appetizer called Ratatouille, native to France, kind of like a stew, but with a different seasoning, zucchini, eggplant, green peppers, tomatoes and olives.PJG的意大利千层面 He had Lasagne我的海鲜意大利面，不好吃，海鲜不新鲜，太咸了，而且那个小虾米小的可怜 I had seafood pasta … not very good, the seafood was not fresh, too salty, and the little tiny shrimps were pitiful.
Today was the first time we enjoyed Nice in the evening. The night in Angel Bay is very quiet, the waves are very light. We saw couples sitting on the smooth pebbled beach facing the sea, enjoying the beautiful night. We are leaving Nice tomorrow for our next destination, Marseille.
