“秘密地被猫统治”的希腊 Greece Secretly “Ruled” by Cats

在房顶上， 屋檐下，峭壁边，餐桌，小巷里，马路边，猫咪的身影到处可见。 一开始还以为是家猫，但是看到猫咪的数量，有google了一下， 发现这些猫都是活在城市里的流浪猫。

On the roofs, under the eaves, on the sides of cliffs, on the dining table, in the alleys, on the side of the road – cats can be seen everywhere. At first I thought they were house cats, but after seeing so many cats, I googled it and found that these cats are all stray cats living in the towns and cities.

流浪猫和野猫在英文语境当中还有所区别，野猫应该是不在人类的帮助下也可以觅食生存，流浪猫基本就和人类住在一起，只是没有一个家，需要人们帮助提供食物和水。 在中文环境语境下， 野猫和流浪猫指的都是一种不是家养的猫。

There is a difference between stray cats and wild cats (they aren’t differentiated in Chinese). Wild cats are able to forage and survive without the help of humans. Stray cats basically live with humans, but they don’t have a home and need people to help provide food and water. In China, wild cats and stray cats refer to cats that are not domesticated.

在这个大数量的猫的群体里，希腊有一个自己的猫品种，名为爱琴海猫。这些猫原产于位于爱琴海的希腊群岛基克拉泽斯群岛。它们被认为是没有人类参与繁殖的情况下发展起来，并且直到今天仍然保持着它们的特征。

Greece, with its huge population of cats, also has its own breed of cat called the Aegean Cat. These cats are native to the Cyclades, part of the Greek Islands in the Aegean Sea. They are believed to have developed without human involvement in reproduction, and still maintain their characteristics to this day.

看到网上有人说，希腊之所有这么多流浪猫的问题，就是因为早起政府没有关注到猫的繁殖问题，没有及时地对过度繁殖的猫咪进行人道的绝育手术。虽然这里的流浪猫很多，希腊人也很有爱心，基本上人们都会给他们提供食物和水。我俩在米科诺斯岛的时候，就和一个小店的主人聊了一会儿，他有一袋猫粮，每天都会给那只在那里出入的猫咪喂食。

I read on the Internet that the problem with so many stray cats in Greece is that early on, the government ignored the problem of cat reproduction and did not promptly sterilize the over-bred cats. Although there are a lot of stray cats here, the Greeks are also very caring, basically people will provide them with food and water. When we were in Mykonos, we chatted for a while with the owner of a small shop. He had a bag of cat food and he fed the cat who came and went there every day.

显然可爱弱小的流浪猫猫们并没有统治希腊，相反，它们是需要被“统治”的，被人们的不虐待“统治”，被邻居们的热心爱心“统治”，被世界各地的游客们的怜悯“统治”，被政府和动物保护组织的更科学的帮助“统治”。

Obviously, the cute and weak stray cats do not rule Greece. On the contrary, they need to be “ruled” by people’s non-abuse, “ruled” by the enthusiastic love of neighbors, and by tourists from all over the world. The mercy “ruling” is “ruled” by scientific help of the government and animal protection organizations.
